As you know, soybean is a highly nutritious and valuable food crop, and its protein profile is similar to that of red meat. Therefore, some of the dietary intake of red meat can be replaced with this valuable plant-based protein.
However, to transform soybeans into a product suitable for human consumption, certain processing and structural changes are required. The process for converting whole soybeans or soybean flour into a human-consumable product is as follows:
First, soybean flour is thoroughly mixed with the required additives in a mixer. The mixture is then conveyed by a screw conveyor to the extruder feeder and subsequently transferred into the extruder.
Inside the extruder, the product undergoes a texturization process based on the pressure and temperature settings determined by the machine operator. As a result, the soybean material develops a textured structure similar to that of red meat.
The textured soy product is then extruded into the desired shape and conveyed by an air conveyor to the dryer. After drying, the product is transferred to a cooling table, where it is cooled and prepared for packaging.
