Types of Extruders

As its name suggests, an extruder is a machine used to extrude and process a wide range of materials. Extruders are widely used across various industries, including the plastics industry (for producing PP and PVC films and other products), the food industry (for producing various types of snacks and puffed snacks), modified starch processing (for producing starch-based adhesives), and the animal feed industry (for producing dog and cat food as well as aquatic feed). Extruders are also used in other industries, including oil extraction from oilseeds and various other applications.
Extrusion processing involves the controlled application of various parameters, including temperature and pressure, to process and extrude different materials according to the desired product specifications.
The extruders supplied by Foroozan Faam Fajr Co. are divided into two main categories, each designed for specific applications across different industries, as described below.

Category 1: Single-Screw Extruders (Single-Shaft Extruders)

These extruders feature a single screw (auger) installed inside the extruder barrel and are used for producing dog and cat food as well as starch-based pellets.

They are also used for producing aquatic feed and other products. Compared with twin-screw extruders, these extruders have a lower purchase price and lower production capacity. Typically, a gearbox is not used in this type of extruder.

Category 2: Twin-Screw Extruders (Twin-Shaft Extruders)
These extruders are equipped with two screws inside the extruder barrel, offering several advantages over single-screw extruders. Twin-screw extruders are used in a wide range of extrusion-based industries and are suitable for processing various types of materials.
The twin-screw extruders supplied by Foroozan Faam Fajr Co. are equipped with a high-strength gearbox featuring German technology, enabling them to generate very high extrusion pressures while operating with relatively low-power motors.
These extruders also offer a higher production capacity compared with single-screw extruders.
